Eunice Salzwedel

Eunice L. Nitz Kwiatkowski Salzwedel, age 80, of Markesan, WI, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2012, at Berlin Memorial Hospital.
Eunice was born on March 3, 1932, at home in rural Markesan, the daughter of Fred and Ida (Rupnow) Nitz. She was baptized and confirmed in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church which is now Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon. In June of 1951, she married Edward Kwiatkowski in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church who then passed in July of 1974. Eunice then remarried in April of 1980 to Ralph Salzwedel in Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ and he later passed away in October 1998. Eunice was a child care provider for many children along with being a housewife as well as a farm wife. She also worked in the kitchen of Riverdale Manor in Markesan. Eunice was the youngest of nine children. She was a life-long member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ. Eunice loved to travel, go out to eat and be with family and friends.
Survivors include her son, Robert “Buck” Kwiatkowski of Manchester, WI; daughter, Nancy Henning of Markesan, WI; two sisters, Doris Zastrow of Markesan, WI and Viola Fenske of Manchester, WI; nieces, nephews and many family and friends. Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, five brothers, Elmer, Wilbur, Herb, Harold and George and one sister, Irma Pretz.
Visitation for Eunice will be held on Monday, October 1, 2012, from 4 – 7:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971 and again on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, from 10 – 11:00 am at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St., Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral service for Eunice will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at 11:00 am at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon. Reverend Jerry Schrankler and Reverend Gary Miller will officiate. Interment will take place at Markesan Memorial Cemetery in Markesan. Memorials may be directed to Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin, Inc., 2401 American Lane, Madison, WI 53704-3101.
