Exilda Walters

September 11, 1921 — July 20, 2011

Exilda “Beth” Walters, age 89, formerly of Ripon, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at Eastbrooke Manor, Oshkosh.

Beth was born on September 11, 1921, in Ladysmith, WI, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Tousley) Platteter. She grew up in Exeland, WI. Beth graduated from Ladysmith High School in 1938. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Superior State Teachers College in 1942. Beth went on to teaching high school at Ondossagon in Barksdale, WI from 1942-1945, Shawano High School from 1945-1946 and Ripon High School from 1946-1950. On August 19, 1950, Beth married Donald Walters. She is a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, the Women’s Guild, past member of Ripon Philatelic Society, Ripon Friends of the Library, and Order of the Eastern Star #144.

Beth is survived by her children, Sue Vogel of Asheville, NC, Debbie Walters of Oshkosh, WI, Don Walters of Ripon, WI, Lori Walters of Oshkosh, WI, Terry Walters of Brandon, WI, Vicki (Jim) Ruddy of Oshkosh, WI, and Cyd (Joe) Daul of Oconomowoc, WI; one sister, Doris Jean Matthiessen of Wauwatosa, WI; six grandchildren, Amy (Brian) Pick, Andrew Felberg, Jeremy Brockman, James (Theresa) Brockman, Rebecca Walters, and Isabella Daul; and seven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Donald.

Visitation for Beth Walters will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2011, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St. Ripon.

Funeral Service for Beth Walters will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ with Reverend Gerald Schrankler officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon. Memorials may be given to Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St. Ripon.
