Ferne Wallschlaeger

February 4, 1912 — July 26, 2001

Ferne Wilmarth Pedrick Wallschlaeger, age 89, crossed over peacefully on July 26, 2001, at Parkview Nursing Home in Ripon. She was born February 4, 1912, in Dodge Center, Minnesota to Verne Wilmarth and Gertrude Coffers Wilmarth. Ferne and her twin sister Faye were raised by Samuel M. Pedrick and Mildred R. Pedrick of Ripon, WI.

Ferne graduated from Central State Teachers College in Stevens Point, WI and became an elementary school teacher. On April 12, 1941, she married Franklin A. Wallschlaeger in the Pedrick home on Watson Street and moved to Milwaukee. Franklin and Ferne returned to Ripon in 1946. She had been a long standing member of First Congregational Church of Ripon since 1924, participating in many activities. Ferne was also a member of TOPs/COPS.

She is survived by her husband, Franklin of 60 years; two sons, Charles of Ripon and John of Mill Valley, CA; three grandchildren, Laura Wallschlaeger Smith of Germany, Corey Wallschlaeger of IL and Andrew Wallschlaeger of MN; one great-grandchild, Madeline Smith of Germany and one brother, Wallace Wilmarth Ottman of Omro. She was preceded in death by her parents, the Pedricks, her sisters, Marcella Robbins Pedrick Morgan, Mildred Robbins Pedrick and her twin sister, Faye Wilmarth Pedrick Eachus.

A private memorial service for the family was held at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Inurnment was at Hillside Cemetery in Ripon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “Make A Wish Foundation” for children.
