Florence Chaffin, age 90, formerly of Ripon, passed away October 19, 2005, in Madison where she had lived this past year.
She was born December 4, 1914, in Ripon on the family farm, the daughter of William and Mary (Heiman) Beier. She graduated from Ripon High School. She married James Chaffin, also of rural Ripon, on June 8, 1935. Together they owned and operated the Chaffin Livestock Business for many years.
Florence was a lifelong member of Our Saviours United Church of Christ, Ripon.
She was active in the Altar Guild and Womens Guild where for many years she and her sister, Mabel enjoyed quilting and rug making. Florence was also a member of the Ripon Historical Society. She enjoyed gardening and was an active member of the Ripon Garden Club. Florence always enjoyed a good game of cards. She was very devoted to her family, always giving them care and love.
She was preceded in death by her husband James; a son, Roger Chaffin of Albuquerque, NM; her sisters, Mabel Tursky and Laura Schrader; and a brother, Neil Beier. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Fauerbach of Madison; six grandchildren, Lisa Rogers, Becky (Jim) Hario, Christopher (Betsy) Fauerbach, Beth (Scott) Lorenz, Cynthia Webb, and Amy (Curt) Cherne; and ten great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2005, at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon. A 2 p.m. funeral service will follow the visitation at the funeral home. The Rev. Mark R. West will officiate. Burial will be in Garden of the Cross Cemetery, Ripon. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her name will be given to Hospice Care of Madison.
