Florence Pauline Grant, age 99, of 326 Stoney Ridge Rd., Ripon, passed away August 16, 2003 at Michalenes in Ripon, WI.
Pauline was born July 14, 1904 in Polo, IL, a daughter of Lena (Reynolds) and John R. Myers. She attended Chicago Musical College and was employed as a school music teacher for 30 years. She taught for 15 years at Ogle Co. schools and 15 years at Polo grade schools. She also shared her gift of music in other roles, as an organist at White Pines Roller Rink for 30 years and also as an organist the First United Presbyterian Church in Polo, IL. She also taught piano and organ for many years. Pauline was a past President of the Polo Womens Club, and past Vice-President of Ogle/Lee Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Polo, IL.
Survivors include a sister, Kathaleen Mathias and her husband Claire of Ripon; Nephews, Larry (Paula) Mathias of Lake Havasu City, AZ and Lynn (Terry) Mathias of Ripon; Niece, Louise (Dennis) Belk of Madison, WI, and nephews, Lyle (Julie) Mathias of Ripon and Loren (Vicki) Mathias of Palmdale, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Marcia Grant.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2003 at Fairmont Cemetery, Polo, IL, with Rev. Dr. James Gillespie officiating. Friends will be received for a time of fellowship following the service at the First Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 326, Polo, IL.
