Florian Grover Laper, age 95, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015, at Agnesian Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.
Florian was born March 9, 1920, in Fairwater, WI, the son of Jesse W. and Nellie G. (Abercrombie) Laper. He graduated from Ripon High School in 1937 and went on to finish a two year business program from Fond du Lac Commercial College. Florian served our country in the United States Air Corps. On August 25, 1945, he married Phyllis Asplund in Florence, WI. After managing family farms and businesses, he continued to develop his own business ventures until his retirement. Florian was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ripon and a founding member of the Fairwater Historical Society.
Survivors include his children, Patrick (Kathleen) Laper of Hobe Sound, FL, Joanne (Al) Arroyo of Verona, NJ and Peter (Cindy) Laper of Pewaukee, WI; grandchildren, Jesse (Kelly) Arroyo of Rochester, MN, Rebecca (Rick) Harpster of Elmhurst, IL, Adam (Melissa Brinamen) Arroyo of Allamuchy, NJ, Chelsey (Dexter) Runyard of Oconomowoc, WI, Carly (Joe) Kramer of Durham, NC and Phillip Laper of Milwaukee, WI; nine great-grandchildren, Jacob, Liam, Ella and Sage Arroyo, Jillian and Lucas Harpster, Emma and MacKenna Runyard, and Lucy Kramer; one niece, Jill Butzin of Denver, CO and several cousins. Florian was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Phyllis; granddaughter, Alison Arroyo; sister, Patricia Butzin and nephew, Jeff Butzin.
Visitation for Florian will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015, from 9:30 11:00 am at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 430 W. Griswold St., Ripon, WI 54971 with the funeral service following immediately after. Reverend Clay R. Salmela will officiate. Interment will be held at Fairwater Cemetery in the Village of Fairwater.
