Frances Pionke, 97, formerly of Pittsville, died Monday, January 9, 1989, at Parkview Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since April 1972.
She was born December 5, 1891, in Brazil to Vincent and Mary Skonieczna. She moved to Chicago at age 13 and attended Chicago schools. They later moved to Almond.
She married Joseph J. Pionke on November 20, 1911, at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Almond. He died May 21, 1978.
Following her marriage, they farmed in the Plainfield area and later in the Marshfield area, retiring in 1950. They then moved to Pittsville. She was a member of the St. Joachims Catholic Church, the Parish Council of Catholic Women, and the St. Marys Circle of the P.C.C.W.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Isabelle (Joseph) Steeps of Berlin, Mrs. Helen (Frank) Wojcik of Arpin and Mrs. Gertrude (John) Schueller of Marshfield; five sons, John C. of Sarasota, FL, Henry J. and Daniel, both of Menomonee Falls, Louis of Sussex, and William of Milwaukee; one sister, Nellie Weis of Spencer; one brother, Joseph Skoine of Sarasota, FL; 39 grandchildren, 73 great grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one son, Dennis and two grandsons.
Services were held on Friday, January 13, 1989, at St. Joachims Catholic Church in Pittsville.
