Francis Wilmer Kuehn Jr., 77, of Fairwater, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Waupun Memorial Hospital, Waupun.
Francis was born to Francis and Virginia (Scholl) Kuehn on March 6, 1934, in Fond du Lac. He graduated from Ripon High School in 1952. In 1955 he married Alice Asplund in Stratford, WI. Upon retiring from his plumbing, heating, and electrical business, Francis was employed as a rural mail carrier. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater, served on the Fairwater Village Board both as a Trustee and President, was a member of the Fairwater Fire Department and also the Fairwater Lions Club where he received the distinguished Melvin Jones Award. Francis loved his family, hunting, fishing, road trips “Sunday drives”, traveling, and visiting on the phone.
Survivors include his wife, Alice of Fairwater; two daughters; Kathy (Jon) Wilsnack, and Laurie (Mark) Gelhar, both of Markesan; one son, Richard (Kara) Kuehn of Markesan; four grandchildren, Katie Kuehn, Courtney Kuehn, Alyssa Wilsnack, and Taylor Gelhar; three sisters, Mary (Morris) Thompson, Ginny (Darryl) Pike, and Judi (Marlin) Greenfield; one brother, Bill (Linda) Kuehn; nieces; nephews; and one brother-in-law, Florian Laper of Ripon. Francis was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Bryan Kuehn; father-in-law, Sigfred Asplund; mother-in-law, Edythe Asplund; sister-in-law, Phyllis Laper; and brother-in-law, Earl Asplund.
Visitation for Francis Kuehn will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, from 4 to 7:00 pm at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Drive, Ripon, and again on Thursday, April 14, 2011, from 10 to 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church, 100 Church Street, in Fairwater.
Funeral Services for Francis Kuehn will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2011, at 11:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairwater. The Reverend Scott G. Ehle will officiate. Interment will follow in the Fairwater Cemetery, Village of Fairwater. A memorial is being established.
