Francis G. Prien, age 67, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2014, at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh, WI, with his family at his side.
Francis was born December 11, 1946, in Footville, WI, the son of Betty (Prien) Dampier. He graduated from Janesville Senior High School in 1965 and then went on to serve our country in the United States Army from April 1966 until March of 1968. In 1970, Francis married Cindy Ebert at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Janesville, WI. He attended two years of college at Blackhawk Technical College following his marriage. Francis worked for many retail establishments including Kwik Trip and Piggly Wiggly. Frances worked in production for Hormel as well. He was also employed as a cook for Miller’s Tavern and Grill. He enjoyed watching Nascar, the Milwaukee Brewers, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He attended Grace Lutheran Church in Ripon. Francis loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren whom he loved very much.
Survivors include his mother, Betty Dampier; wife, Cindy (Ebert) Prien; a son, Terry (Kim) Prien of Ripon, WI, and his daughter, Darcy (Ryan) Hartwig of Fort Atkinson, WI; grandsons, Tanner and Owen Hartwig both of Fort Atkinson, WI; two brother in-laws, Bob (Kathy) Ebert and Bill (Regina) Ebert both of Janeville; two sister in-laws, Becky (Dennis) VerBunker of Muskego, WI, and Sandy (Jeff) Notstad of Cambridge, WI; a brother, Frank Dampier of White Water, WI; three sisters, Linda (Richard) Arrowood of Beloit, WI, Sue (Mark) Stubbin of Janesville, WI, and Michele Christianson also of Janesville, WI, and aunt, Frieda (Jerry) Kelly of Huntington Beach, CA. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and very special friends. Francis is preceded in death by his brother, Henry Dampier; step father, Franklin Dampier as well as his mother in-law, Betty Ebert.
Visitation for Frances G. Prien will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2014, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI, 54971.
Memorial service for Francis G. Prien will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2014, 3:00p.m., at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971. Reverend Clay Salmela will officiate. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Unit A 4125 N 124th St. Brookfield, WI 53005.
