Frank Peter, age 84, of Ripon, formerly of Milwaukee, passed away on July 11, 2009, at Ripon Medical Center in Ripon, WI.
Frank was born June 3, 1925, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Horacki) Peter. He graduated from Pulaski High School in 1942, in Milwaukee, WI and joined the United States Navy and served in the Pacific Theatre, specifically the Philippines, during WWII. He was honorably discharged on January 4, 1946. He then became a building inspector for the City of Milwaukee where he retired. Frank married Gloria Grover on August 8, 1957 and was a member of St. Catherines of Siena Church in Ripon. He was also one of the founders of the EAA. It began with Frank building an airplane in his backyard and being neighbors with Paul Poberezny, who went on to become the president of the EAA. He was an avid pilot.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan (Dennis) Daye of Franksville, WI and Judy (Richard) Gauthier of Ripon, WI; two sisters, Elizabeth Bodus of New Berlin, WI and Theresa Stoecker of Milwaukee, WI and six grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria in 1963, his sister, Mary Everson in 1988, and his daughter Kathy in 1988.
Visitation for Frank Peter will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2009, from 9 11:00 am at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St. Racine, WI 53406.
Mass of Christian Burial for Frank Peter will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2009, at 11:00 am at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St. Racine, WI 53406. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, City of Milwaukee. Father William J. Dietzler will be officiating. Contributions may be sent to Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, P.O. Box 371, Ripon, WI 54971 and will be given to EAA Young Eagles to further aviation.
