Franklin A. Sears, age 82, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2015, at Prairie Place in Ripon.
Frank was born July 1, 1933, in Duluth, MN, the son of Nicholas and Angeline (Mattison) Sears. He graduated from Lake Mills High School and went on to further his education at the University of Wisconsin Madison graduating from the School of Pharmacy in 1955. Frank married Patsy Lee Draeger two weeks later. He served our country in the Army Reserve for six years as an officer after graduating from college. Frank was a registered pharmacist in the State of Wisconsin for 50 years. After an internship in Watertown, WI, he came to Ripon and worked as a partner at Hader Pharmacy on Watson Street. He bought the business and changed the name to Sears Pharmacy in 1972. In 1978, he then moved the business to West Fond du Lac Street and stayed there until 1992. Frank then joined the staff at Walgreens in Ripon until his retirement in 2006.
Survivors include two sons, Michael (Mary Anne) Sears of Nashotah, WI, and Mitchell (Debbie) Sears of Ripon, WI; five grandchildren, Christopher (Jessica) Sears of Montgomery Village, MD, Cassandra (Shaun) Wollert of Ripon, WI, Mitch Sears Jr. of Ripon, WI, Nick Sears of Ripon, WI, and Diana Sears of West Bend, WI; six great-grandchildren, Natalie Briskie of Ripon, WI, Alexzander and Shelby Wollert both of Ripon, WI, and Maria, Annabelle and Elizabeth Sears all of Montgomery Village, MD; siblings, John Sears of Bozeman, MT, Barbara Sears of Grand View, WI, and Billy (Isabelle) Sears of Jefferson, WI. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Angeline; wife, Patsy Lee; daughter, Marie Sears and brother, Nicholas Sears, Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Franklin Sears will be held Monday, January 4, 2016, at 11:00 am at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 228 Blossom St., Ripon, WI 54971. Reverend Robert A. Fictum will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Ripon. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the mass.
