Franklin Wallschlaeger

January 22, 1911 — November 13, 2001

Franklin August Wallschlaeger, age 90 peacefully passed away on November 13, 2001 at Parkview Care Center in Ripon.

Franklin was born January 22, 1911, in Ripon, WI, the son of John and Augusta Beier Wallschlaeger. Franklin graduated from Ripon High School and Ripon College class of 1936 and worked for International Harvester in Milwaukee. On April 12, 1941, he married Ferne Wilmarth Pedrick in the Pedrick home on Watson St. and moved to Milwaukee. Franklin and Ferne returned to Ripon in 1946, after accepting a purchasing agent position at Speed Queen working there for over 30 years. He was a long standing member of First Congregational Church of Ripon, participating in many activities, a member of Kiwanis, active in the establishment of Elizabeth Murray Park and with his brother; Herbert generously donated land for the new Ripon Library.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ferne Wilmarth Pedrick, his parents, eleven brothers and one sister.

He is survived by two sons, Charles (Susan) Wallschlaeger of Ripon and John Wallschlaeger of Mill Valley, CA; grandchildren, Laura Wallschlaeger Smith (Germany), Corey Wallschlaeger (IL) and Andrew Wallschlaeger (MN); two great-grandchildren, Madeline and Nicholas Smith (Germany).

A private memorial service was held at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home with interment at Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to “Make a Wish Foundation” Wisconsin Chapter.
