Fred W. Wilkin, age 86, of Green Lake, WI, died Friday, December 13, 1996, at Juliette Manor Nursing Home in Berlin.
He was born May 20, 1910, in Milwaukee, WI, a son of John and Margareth (Puerzer) Wilkin. On July 1, 1939, he married Lillian Strehlow at St. Annes Church. Mr. Wilkin was educated in Milwaukee schools. He worked as an insurance representative for Prudential Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee until his retirement in 1975, than moving to Green Lake. He was a member of St. Joseph Benevolent Society, Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Green Lake. Mr. Wilkin was elected to the office of City Alderman and in 1977, was appointed Mayor of Green Lake, WI, serving three terms as Mayor.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian, two daughters, Sharon (James) Petrovich of Pensacola, FL and Wendy (Evan) Gullickson of Wauwatosa, WI; one son, Steven (Diane) Wilkin of Oregon, WI; eight grandchildren, one brother, Ben Wilkin of Wauwatosa, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.
Funeral service will be held Monday, December 16, 1996, at 2 pm at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Green Lake, WI, with Reverend John R. Dowd officiating.
Friends may call on Monday from 1 pm until the time of the service at the church. Burial will follow in Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake.
