Frederick D. Butler, Jr., age 79 of Green Lake, died Sunday, November 1, 1998, at Parkview Care Center in Ripon after a brief stay.
He was born December 22, 1918, in Alton, IL, a son of the late The Rev. Frederick and Marie (Nelson) Butler, Sr. He graduated from University High School in Madison and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an then held the rank of Lt. in the U.S. Navy during WWII. For 35 years Fred worked at Speed Queen in Ripon, and retired as Vice-President of Commercial Sales in 1983. He was former President of the Ripon Kiwanis Club, Ripon Hospital Board, and Ripon and Green Lake School Boards, and had involvement with other business affiliations. Mr. Butler was a member of Our Saviours United Church of Christ, Ripon.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Geneve (Dunn) ButIer; children, Robert Butler of Hopewell, VA, John (Lisa) Butler of Ft. Atkinson and their children, Bradley and Abby Marie, Barbara (Dr. Scott) Jenkins of Maple Grove, MN and their children, Kathereine and Allyson, and Tammy (Thomas) Kenton of Wautoma and their son, Erick; sister, Betty (Dr. Charles) Cory of La Jolla, CA; cousins, nieces and nephews. He is further survived by his father-in-law, Floyd Dunn of Ripon and an aunt, Elsie Neath of Madison.
Funeral services will be Thursday, November 5, 1998, at 11:00 AM at the
Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon with the Rev. Eric Burnard officiating.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ripon. Visitation will be Thursday from
9:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials to Our
Saviours United Church of Christ, Ripon.
