Georgia A. Matschek, age 90, of Ripon, WI, found peace on Friday, January 8, 2016, at Bethel Home in Oshkosh after a brief battle with cancer.
Georgia was born August 23, 1925, in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of George and Amelia (Janot) Heinze. She graduated from Bay View High School in Milwaukee, WI. On May 24, 1947, Georgia married Anton Matschek. She worked in retail as a mail clerk for 17 years and was a loving mother and homemaker her entire adult life. She was a lifetime resident of Milwaukee and in her later years moved to Ripon.
Survivors include her daughter, Diane (Philip) Major of Antioch, IL; her son, Tony (Sue) Matschek of Winneconne, WI and three grandchildren, Lisa (Edward) Major Robertson of Warsaw, IN, John Major of Palatine, IL and Ashley (Damien) Matchek Grapentine of Sheboygan, WI and by many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, George and Amelia; husband, Anton Matschek; daughter, Nancy Matschek; granddaughter, Tania Matschek and sister, Evelyn Heinze Mente.
Per Georgia’s wishes services will be private. Inurnment will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI. Any memorial gifts may be made, in her name, to a charity of your choice.
