Gertrude Evelyn Hanson, age 85, of Ripon, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2011, at Barrett House in Ripon, WI.
Gert was born on July 27, 1925, in Marion, WI, the daughter of Fred and Minnie (Dallman) Knaack. She married Donald Hanson in the Town of Dupont, WI. Gert worked at PMI and also owned and operated Ace Hardware in Markesan. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon.
Survivors include two sons, Donald (Janet) Hanson Jr. of Superior, WI, and Wayne (Nan) Hanson of Ripon, WI; daughter, Sandie Day of Muskego, WI; grandchildren, Derek (fiancée, Chris Nau) Hanson, Matthew Hanson, Tanya (Brad) Metzger, Brian (friend, Lauren) Wills, Lisa (Fiancé, Sean Lindenstruth) Wills, Jeremiah (Lisa) Hanson, Sarah Hanson and Jesse (Melissa) Brigandi; fourteen great-grandchildren. Gert was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Bob and Tom Hanson; two brothers, Martin and Herbert Knaack and one sister, Margaret Yesse.
Visitation for Gertrude Hanson will be held on Friday, January 21, 2011, from 4 – 7:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr. Ripon, WI 54971 and again on Saturday, January 22, 2011, from 10 – 11:00 am at Messiah Lutheran Church, 500 Mayparty Dr. Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral Service for Gertrude Hanson will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at 11:00 am at Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon. Reverend Bryan Fritsch will officiate. Interment will take place at Markesan Memorial Cemetery in Markesan, WI. Memorials may be sent to Barrett House, 632 Hilltop Lane Ripon, WI 54971 or a charity of your choice.
