Gertrude J. Stollfus, age 87, of Green Lake, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2008, at Ripon Medical Center, Ripon, with her children at her side.
Gertrude was born on September 16, 1921, in rural Waupun, the daughter of Henry and Clara (Nummerdor) Peters. She attended schools in Ripon, Rosendale, and the Waupun area. On February 15, 1941, she married Myron Stollfus in Fond du Lac. Gertrude was loved by her family and was famous for her cookies. She maintained a strong friendship with many friends throughout the years. Gertrude was very proud of her knitting of Afghans for her family, and was working on her 41st one. She was a past member of Grace Reformed Church in Fond du Lac, and attended Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Ripon.
Survivors include, daughters, Sylvia Claire Diggs of Callisburg, TX, Linda Rae (Sam) Mullen of Green Lake, WI, Carla Joy Hodge of Oshkosh, WI; son, Michael David (Denise François) Stollfus of Sun Prairie, WI; 11 grandchildren, Mylynda Joy (Mike) Embrey of Callisburg, TX, James Michael (Sonya) Diggs of Durant, OK, Matthew Jot (Michelle) Diggs of Shady Dale, OK, Joel (Carol Ann) Mullen of Berlin, WI, Hannah (Michael) Lueneburg of Princeton, WI, Paul and Dustin Hodge of Ripon, and Jacob, Andrew, Zachary and Clair Stollfus of Sun Prairie, WI; 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren. Gertrude is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Myron Stollfus, sisters, Carrie Doolan and Alvina Demoske, brothers, Raymond, Melvin, Lester, Norman, Herbert, and Kenneth Peters.
Visitation for Gertrude Stollfus will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2008 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Free Church, Ripon.
Funeral Service for Gertrude Stollfus will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Jeremy Vander Galien officiating. Interment will be held in Rosendale Cemetery, Village of Rosendale. A memorial has been established.
