Gladys Irene Retzlaff, age 79, died Monday, May 26, 2003, at her home at 2972 State Rd 55 in Crandon, Forest County, WI.
She was born October 3, 1923, in the Town of Ripon, the daughter of Frank and Ethel (Stellmacher) Ninneman. Gladys attended Ripon Schools. On February 22, 1941, she married Wilbert Retzlaff, and they made their home in Ripon prior to moving to Crandon 22 years ago. She was a past member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon. Gladys was a homemaker and was involved in the elderly feeding program for the Crandon Senior Citizens.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Silva of Vacaville, CA; 2 grandchildren, Maria (Matt) Smith and Jeff (Anne) Silva, all of CA; 3 great-grandchildren, Tony, Emily and David Silva; sisters, Fern Wagner of Ripon, June Hall and Beatrice (Eugene) Warner, all of Campbellsport. 1 sister-in-law, Elsie Peschke of Markesan; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wilbert, 2 brothers, Palmer and Darwin Ninneman; and sister, Joyce Ziesmer.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2003, at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon with Rev. Margaret G. Richardson Zedan officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Fairwater Cemetery, Fairwater. Memorials to the American Diabetes Association.
