Glenn "Fritz" Towne

July 8, 1917 — March 19, 2000

Glenn “Fritz” Warren Towne, 82, of the Town of Ripon, died unexpectedly Sunday, March 19, 2000, at Ripon Medical Center.

He was born on July 8, 1917, in the Town of Byron, the son of Leslie and Ethel (Conroy) Towne. Mr. Towne served in the United States Army in WW2 from June 1941 through . December 1945, and was stationed at Fort Benning, GA, in Newfoundland and in Germany.

On June 11, 1955, he married Catherine Mae Rohlfs at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. He and his wife lived in the Ripon area most of their married life. He was employed as a truck driver for Warren Towne Trucking; as a self .employed milk hauler; for Fox Valley Transit; Green Lake Ready Mix; and 4X Corporation until his retirement in 1982.

Survivors include 6 children, John Towne of Ripon; Jean Denbrook & her husband Lynn of Orlando, FL; Jeanette Aibright & her husband Robert of Pickett; Joan Bender & her husband Todd of Ripon; Jay Towne & his wife Tammy of Markesan; and Janel Towne of Ripon; 2 sisters, Grace Towne of Waupun and Loraine Kopf & her husband Robert of Oakfield; 5 grandchildren, Jared Denbrook, Brandon Albright, Travis Bender, Trevor Bender and Allison Towne; 2 step-grandchildren, Alan Denbrook & Tiffany Bender; and other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife in 1996, 2 sisters, Delores Towne in 1957 and Ruby Loomans in 1958; 1 brother, Dale Towne in 1990; 1 son, Jerry Towne in 1979; and 1 daughter, Jane Towne in 1988.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 22 from 4 until 8 PM at the
Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon. Funeral service for Glenn Towne will be 10 AM Thursday, March 23, 2000, at the funeral home with Rev. David Busker officiating. Interment with Military Rites will follow at the Rosendale Cemetery, Rosendale. A memorial has been established.
