Glenna Moodie

Glenna Moodie, age 98, of Ripon, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2010, at Maplecrest Manor in Ripon, WI.

Glenna was born on December 18, 1911, in Springvale, Fond du Lac County, WI, the daughter of Harry and Elizabeth (Davies) Giffey. She graduated from Fond du Lac County Normal in 1932, and also graduated from Oshkosh University, Oshkosh, WI. Glenna taught school in Fond du Lac and Winnebago counties. She retired from teaching in the Ripon School System and following retirement, she substituted for four years. In 1939, Glenna married Walter Moodie in the Evangelical United Brethren Church which became United Methodist Church. Glenna taught Sunday school, was superintendent of the junior department, belonged to the WMS and the Friendship Circle, was a former member of the choir, and was a charter member of the Christian Service Sunday School class. She also served on various committees, was a member of the Welsh Gamfa Gana and sang in the Wisconsin State Gamfa choir.

Glenna is survived by four sons, David (Virginia) Moodie of Stevens Point, WI, Lynn (Peggy) Moodie of Ripon, WI, Larry (Brenda) Moodie of Mosinee, WI and Robert (Eloise) Moodie of Plover, WI; 16 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren all of whom she loved dearly. Glenna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Walter in 1961; and one great-granddaughter, Faith Moodie; two brothers, Merton (Louise) and Donald Giffey and one sister, Isabelle (Ray) Zellmer.

Visitation for Glenna Moodie will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2010, from 4 – 7:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon and again on Friday, March 26, 2010, from 10 – 11:00 am at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon.

Funeral Service for Glenna Moodie will be held on Friday, March 26, 2010, at 11:00 am at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 401 W. Fond du Lac St. Ripon, WI 54971. Reverend Paul W. Nulton will officiate. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Ripon. A memorial is being established in Glenna’s name.
