Gordon Peschke

March 14, 1915 — November 2, 2000

Gordon Harold Peschke, age 85, of the Town of Metomen, died Thursday, November 2, 2000, at the Markesan Resident Home after a very brief stay.

He was born March 14, 1915, in Mitchels Glen, Green Lake Co., the son of Albert and Ida (DiskOSkie) Peschke. When he was 10 years old his folks bought the farm on Cty Rd E near Fairwater. When he got out of the 8th grade, he worked on the farm, and has farmed there for 75 years. On September 27, 1939, he married Elsie Retzlaff, and they have lived together on the farm for 61 years. Gordon was on the Seward School Board for 20 years, and was an agent for Flyway Mutual Insurance Company. He was a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, Ripon and served on the church council for 12 years. Mr. Peschke loved his church.

He is survived his wife Elsie; by 2 sons, Karl (Anne) Peschke of Glenview, IL and Ron (Sue) Peschke of Fairwater 5 grandchildren, Mark, Kyle, Ryan, Kristin and Megan; and 1 sister, Mrs. Evora Buchholz, 1 niece, Jane Yakel and 2 great-nephews, Todd & Troy, all of Appleton. He is further survived by 2 brothers-in-law, Gilbert Van Kirk of Ripon and Wilbert (Gladys) Retzlaff of Crandon.

Funeral service for Gordon Peschke will be 11 a.m. Monday, November 6, 2000, at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, Ripon with Rev. Rebecca A. Johnston officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, from 4-8 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon and again on Monday from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in the Fairwater Cemetery, Fairwater.
