Grace G. Jonas, age 96, of Ripon, pased away Saturday, July 5, 2003, at the Markesan Resident Home.
Grace was born July 31, 1906, in Berlin, a daughter of Frank and Theresa (Strebelinski) Grota. She graduated from Berlin High School. On October 6, 1930, she married Erwin E. Jonas in Berlin. Grace was employed as a Bookkeeper at Speed Queen in Ripon. Grace and Erwin made their home in Ripon, where she was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Ladies Alter Society, the Order of Forester’s, and the Fireman’s Auxillary.
Survivors include sons; Jack (Nancy) Jonas of Ripon and Les (Joanne) Jonas of Clintonville, WI. Grandchildren; Kathy (Tim) O’Connor, Mark (Drae) Jonas, Sarajane Draeger, Jack Jonas, Peter (Nancy) Jonas, Tim (Anne) Jonas, and Dan (Pamela) Jonas. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren; her sister, Irene Rashid Lay of Ripon; her brother, Frank Grota of Berlin; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Isabel Amend Millbrandt, and brothers, Sylvester, Al, and Clifford Grota.
Friends may call on Tuesday, July 8, 2003, from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Ripon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., following the visitation, with Father Robert A. Fictum officiating. Interment will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Town of Ripon. A memorial has been established.
