Grace A. Powelson, age 68, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Ripon Medical Center.
Grace was born March 18, 1948, in Dodgeville, WI, the daughter of Kenneth L. and Lois P. (Reed) Smith. She graduated from Mineral Point High School. Grace was a homemaker and a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Ripon. Grace was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother, and friend. She was a warm and caring person who wore her heart on her sleeve. She opened her heart and house to everyone in need and never turned anyone away. You were family even if you were not blood and she loved us all the same no matter how you came into her life. You will be deeply missed by all.
Survivors include daughter, Karilyn L. (Timothy) Martins of Markesan, WI; eight grandchildren, Janis Seefeldt of Kaukauna, WI, Dakota, Austin, Lilly Boyd of Markesan/Ripon, WI, Autumn, Thor, Austin “AJ” and Zoe Martins all of Markesan; brother, Lee Smith of Darlington, WI; sister, Judith Fitzgerald of Belmont, WI; two nieces, Robin (Eric Jerdee) Weigel of Browntown, WI and Amanda (Robert Bosch) Smith of Highland, WI; nephew, Jeremy Smith of Darlington, WI; brother-in-law, Ralph Weigel of Clinton, WI; best friend, Emma Glass of Kaukauna, WI; friend, Deb Wichman and her spoiled rotten cat, Buddy. Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Lois Smith; granddaughter, Hope Anna Powelson-Mitchell; sister, Diane Weigel; brother-in-law, Richard Fitzgerald and friend, Tim Wichman.
A memorial service for Grace will take place at a later date. A memorial is being established in her name.
