Halvor “Hal” Carl Erickson, age 91 of Markesan, WI passed away on Wednesday October 9, 2024, at Theda Care Medical Center in Berlin, WI.
Hal was born on June 6, 1933, in Milwaukee WI, son of Harold and Christina (Erdmann) Erickson. He graduated from high school then went on to serve our country in the U.S. Air Force; where he served four years of active duty where he was Crew Chief Engineer for the C124 Globemaster. On September 10, 1960, he married Joanne Paul and they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary this year. Hal started in the warehouse at Engman-Taylor but was promoted to Industrial Sales and worked there for 32 years before taking a job as Abrasive Specialist with Bay State Abrasives until he retired at age 62.
Hal’s passion was deer hunting which he loved to do with his wife, son and grandson. He loved the outdoors even down to cutting the grass every week. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Hal is survived by his loving wife, Joanne Erickson; son, John (Nancee) Erickson, Chicago, IL; daughter, Kristin E. (Craig Hopp) Giblin, East Troy, WI; and grandchildren, Anna & Keith Erickson and Alison Giblin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Christina, Erickson; brother, Malon Erickson; and sister, June (Erickson) Burbach.
Visitation for Hal will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Terrace Shores Evangelical Free Church, W3278 Co Road K, Markesan, WI 53946, followed by the memorial service at 11:00 am. A final salute and full military honors will take place at the church immediately following the memorial service. Light snacks and coffee will follow.
