Harold Huth

Harold E. Huth, age 88, of Tuleta Hill Rd., Markesan, was called by the Lord on Thursday evening, June 3, 2004 at Berlin Memorial Hospital.

Harold was born to Edward and Pauline (Schultz) Huth on August 5, 1915 in Ripon WI where he spent his boyhood. As a young man he began his professional career as a machinist at Speed Queen. He served with the Army 557th Ordinance Heavy Maintenance Tank Company in the European Theater from 1941-1945. Upon his return he pursued his college education at Ripon College where he met and married the love of his life, Miriam Beilke, on June 18, 1949. He earned degrees from Ripon College and the University of Wisconsin - Madison. After college, Harold began teaching high school agriculture at Bangor, WI. He later became the LaCrosse County 4-H Agent and then County Extension Agent earning the title of Assistant Professor of UW-Madison until an early medical retirement. Since returning to the Ripon area in 1969, he was employed by Design Specialty Builders and the Green Lake Conference Center sharing his carpentry skills until his retirement. He has been active in his church and a member of the Green Lake American Legion, Green Lake Republican Party, and the Ripon Rotary Club.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Miriam Beilke Huth, of Markesan; his daughter and son-in-law, Karen and John Evans of Stone Mountain GA.; his sister, Helen Manthei; nephew, Phillip (Susan) Manthei and great nephew, Steven Manthei all of Ripon. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother-in-law, Harold Manthei and his nephew, David Manthei.

Funeral services for Harold will be Monday, June 7, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Ripon with Reverend Paul L. Holte and Reverend Sandra Krynik officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery, City of Ripon. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Harold’s name.
