Harvey J. Penke, age 83, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 1992, at Waupun Memorial Hospital.
He was born January 28, 1909, in Rush Lake, to Ferdinand and Jessie (Luker) Penke. He was educated in Rush Lake. On October 24, 1931, he married Viola Schattschneider. He lived in the Rush Lake and Ripon area all of his life, and until his retirement, he was a foreman in the machine shop at Speed Queen in Ripon. He was a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon and was a past member of the Ripon Cemetery Board. Harvey loved to catch and eat fish. He and his wife had a cottage at Green Lake where they both loved to relax and fish.
He is survived by his wife, Viola; many friends; and dear friend, Shirley and Don Polus of Princeton. Two brothers preceded him in death.
Funeral services for Mr. Penke will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, Ripon. The Reverend Harley C.W. Tretow will officiate. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ripon. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. A memorial has been established for Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in his name.
