Hazel M. Meyer, age 88, formerly of Silver Creek Manor, Ripon died Thursday morning, May 16, 2002, at Parkview Care Center in Ripon where she had lived the past 10 months.
She was born March 31, 1914, in Ripon, a daughter to Leo and Martha (Klemp) Gatzke. She was a graduate of Ripon High School. On July 3, 1945, she married Gilbert Meyer and he passed away on June 11, 1962. For many years Hazel had worked in textile production at the Ripon Advertisers. She was a member of Our Saviours United Church of Christ in Ripon, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW.
Survivors include 2 sons, Richard Meyer of West LaFayette, IN and Charles (Kay) Meyer of Brown Deer; 1 daughter, Kathleen (Edward) Husting of San Diego, CA; 3 grandchildren, Rebecca, Lauren and Todd; 2 brothers, Jack (Agnes) Gatzke of Ripon and Carl (Loretta) Gatzke of Killeen, Texas; nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Hazel M. Meyer will be Friday, May 24, 2002, at 4 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon with the Rev. Margaret G. Richardson Zedan officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Ripon. A memorial has been established.
