Helen Leathart

Helen Janke Leathart, 89, formerly of Green Lake, died Wednesday, February 7, 2001 in Orange Park, FL.

She was born in Waukegan, IL on May 9, 1911 at home on Low
Avenue. She attended Waukegan schools, graduating from Waukegan Township High School in 1929. In 1933 she married George Leathart at St. Annestasia Church, where she was a long-time member. Helen worked many years for the Western Union office in Waukegan and later Larsen Florists, retiring to Green Lake in 1973. After George passed away in 1991, Helen moved to FL to live with her loving nephew, Kenneth Triplett.

Helen is survived by two sisters, Dorothy (Ted) Carvis of Waukegan, and Marian Brence of Beaverton, OR. She is also survived by four nephews and four nieces. Beside her husband, George, Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Henry Janke of Waukegan and her brother, Henry (Sonny) Janke of Pascagoula, MS.

A Prayer Service by Fr. Robert A. Fictum was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2001 at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home. Interment followed at Dartford Cemetery, Green Lake.
