Helen L. Manthei, 96, of 530 N. Union Street, Ripon, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at Michalene’s Supportive Care Home in Ripon.
Helen was born on September 2, 1909 in Ripon the daughter of J. Edward and Pauline (Schultz) Huth. She graduated from Ripon High School and also graduated from Fountain City Business College in Fond du Lac as a senior stenographer. She worked for Moore & Galloway Lumber Company in Fond du Lac, Oshkosh Truck in Oshkosh, and at Admanco in Ripon. On January 20, 1940 she married Harold E. Manthei at Grace Lutheran Church in Ripon. She made her home at 583 Eureka Street in Ripon from 1950 until 2003 at which time she moved to Michalene’s Supportive Care Home. Helen was a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon, and a past member of the Guild at the Church.
Survivors include her son, Philip (Susan) Manthei of Ripon, one grandson, Steven (Jackie) Manthei of Ripon, one sister-in-law, Miriam Huth of Green Lake, one niece, Karen (John) Evans of Stone Mountain, GA, one aunt, Loretta Schultz of Edgerton, WI, one cousin, Maxine (Marvin) Gietzel of Edgerton, WI and one great nephew, Robert (Sarah) Gehrke of Ripon. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, one son, David, and one brother, Harold E. Huth.
Funeral services for Helen Manthei will be held on Friday, March 31, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon with Rev. Mark R. West officiating. Friends may call at the church on Friday, March 31, 2006 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Garden of the Cross Cemetery, Ripon. A memorial has been established.
