Helen Suits, age 84, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Maplecrest Assisted Living.
Helen was born July 9, 1936 in Waupaca, WI, the daughter of Paul and Emma (Berg) Prill. She was raised on a dairy farm in Saxeville Township, Waushara County, WI. Helen graduated from Weyauwega High School in 1954. She married Ronald D. Suits on November 27, 1955. They resided in Watertown, WI where Helen was employed at the JC Penny Department Store. In the late 1950’s, the Watertown JC Penney store was selected as one of six JC Penny stores across the US to be a test site for a catalog department. Helen was chosen to be the manager of this new venture. It was very successful and became part of the retail scene in the United States.
In 1965, Jeffrey Charles became part of their family and was joined by Deborah Carrie in 1967. In 1968, they moved to Ripon, WI and built a home on Mt. Zion Drive. Helen was a wife, mother and co-owner of Haase Shoes. After retiring, Helen and Ron enjoyed polka music, casino trips and time with family and friends. Helen loved gardening. She raised gigantic red geraniums and loved yellow roses. In 2018, Helen moved to Maplecrest Assisted Living.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Geoffrey Reed of Princeton, MN and Rhiannon Reed of Coon Rapids, MN; and sister, Genevieve (Gerald) Kloth of Mequon, WI. She is further survived by nephews, nieces, cousins and many dear friends. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Emma Prill; son, Jeffrey in 1974; brother, Walter in 2002; husband, Ron in 2015; and daughter, Deborah in 2016.
A visitation for Helen will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 9:30 am until 11:00 am at Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 320 Mt. Zion Dr., Ripon, WI 54971.
A funeral service for Helen will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastor Michael Sheppard officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside Memorial Park in Waupaca, WI. Memorials in Helen’s name may be directed to Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 320 Mt. Zion Dr., Ripon, WI 54971.
