Herbert Lawrence Buchholz, age 100, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2013, at Fountain View Care Center in Ripon.
Herbert was born on June 5, 1912, in Ripon, the son of Frank and Helen (Mehn) Buchholz. On May 3, 1931, he married Alice Nitz in Ripon. During WWII, Herbert worked part time as a police officer. He was also a night superintendent at Speed Queen for 44 ½ years and after his retirement, Herbert became a tour guide. He joined the Ripon-Green Lake-Markesan Masonic Lodge F & AM #95 in 1951 and was a member for 60 years becoming post master in that time. Herbert was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon.
Survivors include his daughter, Joann (Melvin) Ingram of Ripon, WI; daughter-in-law, Hazel Buchholz of Holgate, OH; grandchildren, Robin Ingram of Appleton, WI, James (Cathy) Buchholz of Holgate, OH and Theresa (James) Miller of Kennesaw, GA; great-grandchildren, Alex and Austin Buchholz of Holgate, OH and Kayla Miller of Kennesaw, GA; brother, Maurice (Gloria) Buchholz of Tacoma, WA; two sisters, Helen Sawall of Oshkosh, WI and Donna (Chester) Burton of Ripon, WI and two sisters-in-law, Margaret Buchholz of Ripon, WI and Val Buchholz of Winter Haven, FL. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alice; two sons, Herbert and James Buchholz; brothers, Harvey, Leonard, Franklin, Robert, Clayton and Howard and sisters, Violet, Alice and Lois Ann.
Visitation for Herbert will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013, from 1 2:30 pm at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 401 W. Fond du Lac St., Ripon, WI 54971 with a Masonic service following visitation at 2:30 pm.
Funeral service for Herbert will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013, at 3:00 pm at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Ripon. Reverend Paul Yoder will officiate. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon. A memorial is being established.
