Herbert Dornfeld

Herbert Christian Dornfeld, age 83, of Ripon, WI, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2012, at Fountain View Care Center in Ripon.
Herbert was born on January 9, 1929, in Salemville, WI, the son of Christian and Caroline (Bender) Dornfeld. He graduated from Cambria High School and moved to Milwaukee to work for Allis Chalmers in 1946. Then in 1950, Herbert married Alice Hammer and entered the United States Army. After serving in the military, he worked at Lambertine Creamery, Speed Queen in the tin shop and then started his career in law enforcement in 1954. Herbert retired as Ripon Chief of Police in January of 1983. He was a member of Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ in Ripon.
Survivors include his son, Randal (special friend, Sue Hageman) Dornfeld of Ripon, WI; sister, Berdell (Rodney) Duama of San Antonio, TX; brother, Howard Dornfeld of Markesan, WI and many nieces and nephews. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Alice on March 23, 2002 and one brother, Hubert.
Visitation for Herbert Dornfeld will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, from 4 – 7:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971 and again on Thursday, June 14, 2012, from 10 – 11:00 am at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St., Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral service for Herbert Dornfeld will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2012, at 11:00 am at Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ, 343 Scott St., Ripon, WI 54971. Reverend Mark R. West will officiate. Interment will follow at Garden of the Cross Cemetery in Ripon. Memorials may be directed to Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ.
