Herbert Heidel, age 81, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 1986, at his home.
Herbert was born August 30, 1904, in Brandon, WI, the son of Herman and Bertha (Henker) Heidel. He was graduated from Brandon High School and went on to further his educated at Oshkosh Business College. In 1938, Herbert married Lucille Bluemke. He worked as an assistant publisher for Brandon Times and Owner and Publisher of the Green Lake County Reporter for 12 years. Herbert purchased property on the North Shore of Green Lake and established Heidel House. Mr. and Mrs. Heidel spent winters in Arizona and after sons took over, they purchased a home there in 1968. Herbert was on the school board in Green Lake when the new school was built. He served as Justice of the Peace for many years, was director of Wisconsin Restaurant Assistant and was a contributing editor of National Restaurant Management magazine. Herbert was the president of the Green Lake Rotary Club in 1953 to 1954, Carefree Kiwanis Club and the Desert Forest Golf Club.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille; two sons, Brian and Brent of Green Lake; twelve grandchildren and one brother, Paul of Oshkosh. He was preceded in death by one sister.
Visitation for Herbert will be held on Friday, July 11, 1986, from 6 8:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon.
Funeral Service for Herbert will be held on Saturday, July 12, 1986, at 11:00 am at The Federated Church of Green Lake with Reverend Dwight Bastian and Reverend Ray Stry officiating. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Oshkosh. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Heidel may be remembered by donations to the American Heart Foundation.
