Herbert Wesner

Herbert Albert Wesner, age 91, of the American House of Ripon, passed away Friday morning, October 8, 2004, at All About Life Nursing Home in Fond du Lac.

He was born October 18, 1912, a son to Fred and Tillie (Weiss) Wesner in Koro, in the Town of Nepeuskun. He attended Brooklyn School. In 1935, he married Dorothy Lokker in Milwaukee. Herb was owner of Wesner’s Inc. in Ripon from 1945-1988, and sold farm and home appliances. Herb was a master plumber and electrician, and was a true craftsman. He was a former member of the Ripon Volunteer Fire Department, and was one of the first snowmobile safety instructors for the D.N.R. Herb enjoyed baseball and was a member of the Ripon Robbins and the Ripon City Slickers of which he promoted, and managed many Little League Teams in Ripon.

Family was a very important part of his life. Survivors include his children, Janet (Russell) Leu of Campbellsport, Jerry (Connie) Wesner of Madison and Jeff (Beth) Wesner of Ripon; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and 2 brothers, Arnold Wesner and Leonard (Caroline) Wesner, all of Oshkosh. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in 1982; son, Jack; parents; 7 brothers; 4 sisters; and 1 granddaughter, Pamela.

Funeral service for Herbert A. Wesner will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 12, 2004, at Butzin-Marchant, with Rev. Donald Deike officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 p.m., and again Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ripon. A memorial has been established.
