Mrs. Hilda E. (Bloch) Diekvoss, age 89, formerly of Ripon, died Tuesday morning, January 30, 2001, at Green Lake Manor, Green Lake.
She was born May 9, 1911, in Borth, the daughter of Adolph and Emma (Krause) Bloch. When an infant, the family moved to a farm at Rush Lake. During her teen years, she lived in Ripon where she graduated from Ripon High School. She then graduated from Green Lake Co. Normal and attended Milwaukee State Teachers College. Mrs. Diekvoss taught school in the Ripon area for many years. She was a member of the Fond du Lac Co. Retired Teachers and the Wisconsin State Teachers Association.
On August 6, 1938, Hilda married Leslie F. Diekvoss at the Evangelical Church, and Rev. B.J. Diekvoss, father of the groom performed the ceremony. The couple lived in Texas and New Mexico while her husband served in the U.S. Air Force. They later returned to Ripon where they purchased an ice cream and sandwich shop on the square. Hilda assisted her husband in the shop until they sold the business after 6 years. Later, she returned to teaching and then was a substitue teacher for many years.
In 1961 they built their home at 96 Tabbert Aye, Ripon where she resided before moving to Green Lake Manor. On September 16, 1983, Leslie passed away. They had been married for 45 years at the time of his death. Mrs. Diekvoss was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church and had served in many activities of her church. She was a charter member of the Adult Bible Study Class, and a member of the United Methodist Women and the Christian Service Class.
Surviving is a daughter, Sheila Jane Shuler and son-in-law, Leon A. Shuler of Sterling Heights, Ml, and 2 grandchildren, Sarah J. (Gabriel) Lewis of East Lansing, Ml and Charles A. Shuler of Sterling Heights, Ml. Other survivors are 2 sisters-in-law, Anita Bloch of Ripon and Mary Jane (Scotty) Bloch of Oshkosh; 2 brothers-in-law, Benjamin Diekvoss of Appleton and Merlin (Jean) Diekvoss of Denver, CO; several nephews, nieces, and many cousins. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Friday, February 2, 2001, at lmmanuel United Methodist Church, Ripon with Rev. David A. Busker officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, and again on Friday from 10.11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ripon.

Her great joy was in her family, and seeing the grandchildren grow and continue their education, and remaining faithful to their God!
