Howard Hopp, age 72, of Ripon, passed away Thursday, January 17, 2008 at Ripon Medical Center.
Howard was born on March 12, 1935, in the Town of Metomen, the son of Garrett and Lucy (Grotenhius) Hopp. He attended High School in Waupun and owned his own milk route until he joined the U.S. Army where he served from 1959-1961. After being Honorably Discharged, Howard married Annette Streekstra in Randolph, WI. The couple made their home and began Farming in the Waupun/Alto area where they stayed until they moved to Ripon in 1994. Howard enjoyed camping, fishing, lawn mowing, and snow blowing as well as taking care of people. He was known to play sheepshead with family and friends, was a grade school Bible Class teacher, he was in charge of the concession stands at Barlow Park and Murray Park in Ripon for the Little league games.
Survivors include his wife, Annette of Ripon, his 5 children; Val (Bruce) VandeZande of Waupun, Steve (Shelley) Hopp of Waupun, Jeff (Julie) Hopp of Ripon, Cherrie (Rob) Wilson of Ripon, and Randy (Lee) Hopp of North Fond du Lac, 14 grandchildren; Ashley & Shawon VandeZande, Samantha, Briana & Meghan Hopp, Jessica & Allyson Hopp, Bethany Hopp, Darren Wilson, Keagan Wilson and Payton Wilson, Caleb, Kendra & Jacob Hopp. He is also survived by 2 sisters; Laverne (Harvey) Kok and Grace (Jack) Browne, and one brother, Rueben (Betty) Hopp, brothers and sisters-in-law; Mary Marquart, Maynard Navis, mother-in-law; Elsie Streekstra, brothers and sisters-in law; Ann (Alvin) Boerson, Harold (Helen) Streekstra, Connie (Bruce) Campbell, Jerry (Rhonda) Streekstra, Don (Sue) Streekstra, Dennis (Mary) Streekstra, and Kathy (Elton) Kliest and many nieces and nephews. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister; Bernice Navis, 2 brothers; Jerome and Donald Hopp, 1 brother-in-law; Bud Wellhouse, and his father-in-law; George Streekstra,.
Visitation for Howard Hopp will be held on Monday, January 21, 2008 from 4-8 pm at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon, and again on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 from 10-11:00 am at the Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon.
Funeral Services for Howard Hopp will be held on January 22, 2008 at 11:00 am at the Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon with Reverend Allen Schut officiating, interment will follow in Alto Community Cemetery, Village of Alto, WI. A memorial has been established.
