Ignatius W. Si Sylvester, age 83, of Ripon, died Friday, May 2, 1997, at Ripon Medical Center.
He is survived by I sister, Eileen Hall of Ripon, I brother, Robert (Ann) Sylvester of Halfway, Oregon, 5 nephews, and several grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Bonnie Sylvester and I nephew, Brian Hall.
He was born July 3, 1913, in Mount Horeb, a son to the late Ben and Idella (OConnor) Sylvester. He spent his early years in Mount Horeb before moving to Ripon where he graduated from Ripon High School. He served his country in the Army during WWII from 1942-45. Until his retirement, Si had worked for 46 years as a machine oven operator at Ripon Foods. Si was an avid pilot and enjoyed flying his plane, and was a strong fan of Ripon College sports. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #5278 and was a member of St Patrick Catholic Church in Ripon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday, May 5, 1997, at 10 AM at St Patrick Catholic Church with Father John A. Schmitz officiating. Burial will follow in St Patricks Catholic Cemetery, Town of Ripon. Visitation will be Sunday, May 4, 1997, from 4 until 6 PM, with a Rosary following at 6 PM.
