Ione Roguske

Ione Roguske, age 99, of New London, MN, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2012, at Glenoaks Care Center in New London. She had been a 62 year resident of Ripon, WI prior to moving to Minnesota to be near family in 2002.
Ione was born on April 20, 1913, in Waterloo, WI, the daughter of Roy and Alma (Douglas) Knowlton. On July 8, 1940, she married Victor A. Roguske at the First Congregational Church in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death on September 30, 1994.
She attended the Milwaukee State Teacher’s College and graduated with honors from the Whitewater State Teacher’s College. She taught seven years in the Princeton, WI and Fond du Lac, WI public school systems.
After her marriage she enjoyed being a wife, mother and homemaker. In 1942, Ione and her husband established the Minnow Mart, a “Ma and Pa” live fishing bait business, selling to local young and old fishing enthusiasts and sport shops within a fifty mile radius.
A member of the Green Lake Chapter of the Isaac Walton League of America, Ione and her husband established the Victor A. and Ione Knowlton Roguske Educational Scholarship Fund with the Chapter. Each year a high school student interested in environmental studies is awarded a college scholarship. Ione was also a member of the Ripon Women’s Club, Twin R. Homemakers, H.C.E Fellowship, Sunburst, the South Woods Association, the First Congregational Church of Ripon, the Women’s Fellowship and Church Women United.
Survivors include one son, Frederick (Barbara) Roguske of New London, MN; one daughter, Carolyn (David) Macklem of Englewood, TN; grandson, Jeff (Ann) Roguske of Belgrade, MN; granddaughter, Heather (Charles) Carver of Spicer, MN; great-grandsons, Robert and William Roguske of Belgrade, MN and many nieces and nephews. Ione was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Victor; two sisters and a brother.
Visitation for Ione Roguske will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012, from 12 – 1:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971.
Funeral service for Ione Roguske will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012, at 1:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971. Reverend Greg Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Garden of the Cross Cemetery in Ripon. Memorials may be directed to the Ripon Public Library, 120 Jefferson St., Ripon, WI 54971.
