Mrs. Irma A. Schieler, age 82, entered the Lords house on October 9, 1994. Born in Shawano, WI, on February 16, 1912, Irma was one of the nine children of William and Matilda (Dumke) Laehn. Her brother, Henry Laehn of Cecil and sister, Florence Wezyk of West Allis, survive, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
On June 22, 1931, Irma married the Reverend Egon E. Schieler, who now welcomes her into the Heavenly Kingdom, as do her son, Harold (Pudder) and grandson, David. Irma and Egon served as partners in the ministry of Our Saviours United Church of Christ on Scott St. in Ripon for thirty-five years, from 1938 1973.
In 1968, Irma began serving her community as the first director of the Ripon Senior Citizens Center. Reflecting her love of arts and crafts, she spent much time oil painting and working with ceramics. Flowers and gardening were also a great part of her life. Her greatest joy was in her family, her church and the huge circle of friends she and Reverend Egon shared. In May of 1991, she became the first assisted-care resident of the American House and was remained in the love and care of its excellent staff for three and a half years.
Loving and remembering Irma are her children, Calvin (Margaret) Schieler of Ripon, Reverend Doctor Robert (Charmaine) Schieler of Chicago and Peter (Linda) Schieler of Ripon, along with her former daughter-in-law, Eunice Muzzy of Florida. Ten grandchildren, Susan, Steven, Shane, Scott, Tania, Stuart, Chad, Cristen, Lea and Dawn will now miss Sunday dinners, card games and xmas with grandma. Ten great-grandchildren now hold her love in their hearts.
Services for Mrs. Irma Schieler will be held on Wednesday, October 12 at 10 am with visitation from 9 10 at Our Saviours U.C.C. on Scott St. in Ripon with the Reverend James Mohr officiating. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 11 from 5 7 pm at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Mrs. Schieler will rest in the Garden of the Cross with her husband and son.
