J. Bob Gibney

Mr. J. “Bob” Gibney, 76, of Illinois Avenue, Green Lake, died Saturday, October 20, 1990, in Palatine, IL.

He was born June 16, 1914, in Muscatine, IA, a son of Joseph and Ellen Bowman Gibney. On December 12, 1942, he married Mary Alice Kohl.

Mr. Gibney was a commercial pilot for 20 years following his graduation from Browns Business College. He has been a resident of Green Lake since 1981, and was active in the Ripon Rotary Club, First Congregational Church of Ripon, South Woods Association and the Audubon Society. During World War II he served in the US Air Force as a pilot.
Survivors include his wife; 2 daughters, Sharon (Lloyd) Van Roekel and Ann Gibney, both of Portland, OR; 2 granddaughters and 1 brother, J. Burton (Phyllis) Gibney of Davenport, IA; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother.

Funeral services for Mr. Gibney will be 10:30 AM Friday, October 26 at the First Congregational Church of Ripon. The Reverend Catherine Ann Carlson will officiate and interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ripon.

Friends may call from 6 until 8 P.M. Thursday evening at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon.

A memorial has been established for the First Congregational Church of Ripon.
