James Barclay

October 9, 1928 — April 17, 2015

James C. Barclay, age 86, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.

James was born October 9, 1928, on the family farm in Green Lake, WI, the son of Carl and Esther (Sievert) Barclay. He graduated from Ripon High School in 1946 and attended the University of Wisconsin Madison. James went on to serve our country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Jim worked for many years in highway construction for Wingra Stone of Madison. Later in life he managed the family farm in Ripon. He was a long time member of the Ripon, Green Lake, and Markesan Masonic Lodge F & M #95. James was a member of Walleyes for Tomorrow, a former member of Ducks Unlimited, and was a member of the Ripon VFW. Jim enjoyed the outdoors and particularly liked to hunt and fish. He was also an avid Badger sports fan, regularly attending many games each season.

He is survived by a sister, Katherine Penfield; niece, Ellen (Charles) Penfield-Schneider and their children, Holly (Brian) Rabe and Elizabeth and Phillip Schneider; nephew, Thomas (Vicki) Penfield all of Fond du Lac, WI. James is also survived by special friends, Al and Elizabeth Walker of Green Lake, WI, and Sue and Bob Kennedy-Kallio of Ripon, Charlie Walker and J.R. Walker both of Green Lake, WI, Harvey and Mary Barnekow of Oshkosh, WI, Bob and Karla Spinks of Green Lake, WI, and Elmer and Barbara Smith also of Green Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother in-law, Glenn Penfield.

Visitation for James C. Barclay will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, 515 Mayparty Dr., Ripon, WI 54971.

A Masonic Service for James C. Barclay will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. Reverend Dr. Kevin P. Mundell will officiate. Interment will follow at Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake with full military honors. A memorial is being established.
