James Edgar Fisher, passed away Wednesday, morning, November 15, 2000, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He died in the house he was born in 76 years ago.
He was born March 9, 1924, in the Town of Green Lake, a son to Hazen J. and Luella (Philbrick) Fisher. He attended Center House Grade School and was a 1941 graduate of Ripon High School. On May 27, 1945, he married Violet Judas at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Princeton. Jim farmed and also worked part time at Bluemkes in Rosendale, retiring in 1973. He was a member of bowling leagues in Ripon and Eldorado. Jim hunted deer on his own land and was a member of the local Rod & Gun Club Woods, Water & Wildlife. Mr. Fisher was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Green Lake. Jim and Vi spent winters the last 25 years in Ft. Myers, FL where they had a home and enjoyed the warm weather.
Survivors include his wife, Violet Fisher; one son, Thomas (Martha) Fisher of Madison; three grandchildren, Tanya Keipe (Rob Tregay) of Minneapolis, MN, Heather (Mike) Olson of Spring Green and Phillip J. (Brianna) Fisher of Madison; two step-grandchildren, Travis Campbell of St. Cloud, MN and Beth Campbell of Madison; great-grandchild, Brittany Olson; sonin-law, Robert Keipe of Green Lake; and three sisters, Gwendolyn Pahl of Ripon, Annagene Priske of Ripon and Betty Lou (Gordon) Bradley of Oshkosh. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Becky Keipe in 1997, and parents, Hazen and Luella Fisher and brothers-in-law, Erwin Pahl and Lyle Priske.
Funeral service for James E. Fisher will be 2 pm Saturday, November 18, 2000, at Peace Lutheran Church in Green Lake with Pastor Rodney Dietsche officiating. Interment will be in Green Lake Center Cemetery in the Town of Green Lake. Visitation will be Friday, November 17, 2000, from 4 8:00 pm at Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Peace Lutheran Church, Green Lake and Hospice Hope/Berlin.
