James Edward Hopp, 73, of Ripon, died on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at his home with his family at his side.
Jim was born on April 6, 1934 the son of Herman and Eunice Marie (Schulz) Hopp. He graduated from Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac, and on August 13, 1955 he married Louise Mary Witkowski at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Ripon. Jim owned the Hopp-In Restaurant from 1963-1972 and worked in Radio from 1973-1993. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church (Fond du Lac Street), Knights of Columbus, V.F.W. Schultz-Klemp-Wentland Post #5278 Ripon, American Legion Brown-Parfitt Post #43. Jim served in the US Army from February 6, 1952 to March 18, 1960.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Hopp of Ripon, children; Steven Hopp of Ripon, Ron (Tamie) Hopp of Black Hawk, SD, Patti (Chris) Miller of Ripon, grandchildren; Amber and Jordan Hopp, Joshua and Sierra Hopp, Nathan, Jerrica, Garret and Kaitlin Miller, great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Hopp, 3 brothers, Robert (Jeanne) Hopp of Fond du Lac, Gerald (Nancy) Hopp of Green Bay, Donald (Patti) Hopp of Darboy, many nieces, nephews, cousins, sister-in-laws, and brother-in-laws. He was preceded by his parents; Herman (Betty) Hopp, Eunice (Phil) Boos, sister; Helen (Dick) Klien, mother-in-law, sister-in-laws & brother-in-laws.
Visitation for James Hopp will be held on Friday, November 30, 2007 at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon from 4-7 pm with a Prayer Service held at
7 pm. Friends may also call on Saturday from 1-2 pm at the Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at 2 pm at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church at 425 E. Fond du Lac Street in Ripon, with Reverend Robert Fictum officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Town of Ripon. A memorial has been established.
