James (Jay) Neil Condon, age 68, of Green Lake passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2007 at Theda Clark Hospital in Neenah.
Jay was born on April 13, 1938 in Madison, WI, the son of Donald and Lila (Coakley) Condon. Jay grew up in Ripon and graduated from Ripon High School in 1956. He attended Saint Louis University before joining the Army National Guard during the Berlin crisis. He was stationed in Fort Dix, New Jersey and later Fort Lewis, Washington. While living on the West Coast, he met his future wife, Romelda (Mel) Mooney, of Portland, Oregon. Jay and Mel married in Ripon in 1966, and together ran the Waupun Hotel for a few years before finally moving to Green Lake. Throughout his life, Jay worked as a bartender, sold cars and invested in real estate. He most enjoyed his family, dog, swimming in Green Lake and walking the beaches in Florida.
Survivors include his wife, Mel Condon of Green Lake, WI; children, Karlene Janes of Green Lake, WI, Kelly Condon (James Hoy) of Denver, CO, and Patrick Condon (Lisa Gonzalez) of Denver, CO; grandchildren Alisha Blanchette of Denver, CO, Brooke Blanchette of Madison, WI, April and Peyton Janes of Green Lake, WI, Lila and Jameson Hoy of Denver, CO, and Donald and Alexander Condon of Denver, CO; great-grandchildren Quinn Elko of Denver, CO and Kaya Lemke of Madison, WI. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Lila Condon, and his brother, William Condon.
