James Wilhani Kalata, age 66, of Ripon, died Saturday afternoon, October 28, 2000, as a result of a traffic accident on Hwy. 23 in the Town of Princeton.
He was born May 18, 1934, in Plainfield, a son to Phillip and Anna Marie (Zatewsko) Kalata. He received his education in Almond. Later on he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951-1955, and was stationed at Lake Meade, NV. On June 11, 1955, he married Juanita M. Henke in Almond. James as a heavy equipment operator and mechanic, and belonged to Operating Engineers Local 139 for 35 years. After his retirement, he drove cars for Auction & Associates, as well as mowing lawns to keep busy.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita of Ripon; 3 sons, Melvin Katata of Ripon, Kenneth Kalata of Dalton, and Rodney Kalata of Ripon; 1daughter, Anna Kalata Dahlke (Ralph Liptow) of Ripon; 6 grandchildren, Jeromy, Kathy Laura, Crystal, Krista, and Angela; 2 great-grandchildren, James and Lisa; 2 brothers-in-law, Jack (Pat) Kalata of Almond, and Philip(Eldene) Kalata of Kelnor; Harriet Henke Lattsch, Harvey and Harvey & Margaret Henke, John Henke, Bob & Velma Henke, Alberth~ Henke Witt, and Mike Henke) as well as many nieces and nephews. He is further survived by special friends, Matt, Doris & Curt Kruezinger. His parents preceded him in death.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nove3, 2000, at Lake View MemoriaL Park, Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh. The Reverend Doug Hanback will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 2, from 4-7 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, and again on Friday, from 10-11 a.m. at Lake View Memorial Park. A Memorial has been established.
