James A. Krause, 55, of 425 Jefferson St., Omro, died unexpectedly Saturday, March 7, 1998, at his home.
Jim was born May 28, 1942, in Kewaunee, WI, the son of Alois and Pauline (Benesch) Krause. He graduated from Mishicot High School and attended U. W. Oshkosh before entering the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science in Milwaukee. Jim married the former Mary Ann Kwitek on June 13, 1964, in Clarksmills, WI. Jim began his profession after completing Mortuary school working as an apprentice for Mittnacht Funeral Home in Manitowoc, WI, after completing his aprenticeship he went to Stoneman Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay, WI, and then worked at Ballhorn Funeral Chapel in Sheboygan for 23 years. In 1992, he purchased his own funeral home in Omro, the Krause Funeral Home. Jim was a member of the Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association and was on the Board of Directors from 1990-1992, and was past President of Lake Shore District Funeral Directors. He was presently the President of the Omro Kiwanis Club, a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Omro and a Third Degree Knight of Columbus. Jim proudly and compassionately served thousands of families in their time of need during his 37 years in funeral service.
Survivors include, his wife, Mary Ann of Omro, children, Patrick J. (Patricia) Krause, Michael J. (Joan) Krause, Sarah A. Krause and her fiance, Scott Lackershire, and Joseph W. Krause, all of Sheboygan, and Kathleen M. Krause of Omro. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Amanda, Adam, Anthony and Jessica, all of Sheboygan,1 brother, George (Joan) Krause, 2 sisters, Carol (James) Koeppel and Marian Krause,all Qf Mishicot, mother-in-law, Mary A. Kwitek of Clarksmills, 2 brothers-in-law, Marty (Margaret) of Maribel, WI, and John (Sue) Kwitek of Clarksmills, numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 12, 1998, at 10:00 AM at the Krause Funeral Home in Omro. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 11, 1998, from 4 PM until 10 PM at the Krause Funeral Home. Interment will be in a local cemetery in the Town of Omro. A Memorial is established.
After a close working relationship with the Krause Funeral Home, Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon was asked to assist the family with funeral arrangements.
