James Lecount

December 31, 1906 — November 4, 1991

The Reverend James M. LeCount, age 84, of Ripon, WI, passed away Monday, November 4, 1991, at his home.

He was born December 31, 1906, in Hartford, WI, the son of Frank and Cordelia (Portz) LeCount. He married Helen Yunker on September 12, 1934.

Reverend LeCount attended Ripon College, Marquette University, and the Evangelical Theological Seminary in Naperville, IL. He served over 50 years in parish and prison ministry. He served 8 rural parishes in Northwestern Wisconsin. He was involved in 4-H leadership at the local and county level. He also was County Chairman of CROP relief, and served as chairman in various county Mental Health Associations.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; one daughter, Roberta (Arthur) Zietlow of Madison; three sons, James M. (Judy) LeCount Jr. of Westfield, Reverend Robert B. (Marian) LeCount of Ripon, and David (Jane) LeCount of Middleton; eight grandchildren, Rebecca, Douglas, Tammy, Cindy, Steve, Randy, Jeff, and Darren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and two brothers.

Friends may call Thursday, November 7, 1991, from 4 until 7:00 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home in Ripon and Friday, November 8, 1991, from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of services at the church.

Funeral Services for Reverend LeCount will be held Friday, November 8, 1991, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel United Methodist Church, Ripon. Officiating will be the Reverends Lee A. Meissner and the Reverend Jeff Evans. Interment will be in the Westfield East Cemetery, Westfield. Memorials preferred to Hospice Hope and the church.
