James Pohlman

May 14, 1932 — April 28, 2002

James H. Pohlman, 69, of 665 Emerson Ave., Ripon, died unexpectedly Sunday evening, April 28, 2002, at Ripon Medical Center.

He was born May 14, 1932, in Oshkosh, the son of Harry and Anna (Bleckinger) Pohlman, and graduated from Janesville High School in 1950. Jim was called to serve his country in the US Army from 1954-56 during the Korean Conflict. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education from UW-Whitewater, followed by his Master’s Degree from Greeley, CO. He began his career as a Business Education Instructor in Plainfield, WI from 1956-1960. On August 23, 1958, he married Shirley Atchinson in Spooner, WI. They moved to Ripon in 1960, where he spent the next 32 years employed by the Ripon School District until his retirement in 1992.

Mr. Pohlman was a current supervisor of the Fond du Lac County Board. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion Brown-Parfitt Post #43. He was a member of WEA, NEA and was a past member of the RTA. He was also a volunteer at Ripon Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Pohlman; 4 children, Robert John Pohlman of Janesville, Susan Marie (Ken) Weyers of Gladstone, MI, Anne Elizabeth (David) Fath of Eau Claire, and James Andrew (Rebecca) Pohlman of Appleton; and 7 grandchildren, Thomas, Matthew & Peter Weyers, Jason & Ryan Fath, and Callie & Avery Pohlman. His parents preceded him in death.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 2, 2002, at 11 a.m. at
St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father John A. Schmitz officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon where an American Legion Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 8:15 p.m. Visitation will also be Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Town of Ripon.

A Memorial has been established.
