James A. Taylor, age 88, of Largo, Florida, died Tuesday, August 20, 2002, at the Markesan Resident Home in Markesan.
He was born September 30, 1913, in Steubenville, Ohio, the son of James Ambrose and Florence (Pfannenschmidt) Taylor. He attended Haper High School in Chicago, and later married Helen Florence Herbert on June 15, 1935. Until his retirement, he had been a supervisor at the U.S. Post Office in Chicago. Mr. Taylor was a member of the Lutheran church.
Survivors include his daughter, Joan A. Ziska of Markesan; and son, James A. Taylor of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and his fiancé, Jean Rauth. Papa Taylor is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; daughter, Marilyn Larsen; parents; son-in-law, Gordon Ziska; and brother, Frank Taylor.
A visitation will be Thursday, August 22, 2002 from 6 until 6:45 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 6:45 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon. The Reverend J. Douglas Hanback will officiate. Interment will be in Serenity Gardens Cemetery in Largo, Florida. A memorial has been established.
