James R. Turner, age 59, of 330 West Ontario St, Omro, WI, died Sunday, December 29, 2002, at his home surrounded by his family after losing his battle with cancer.
He was born January 14, 1943, in Middleboro, MA, the son of Russell James and Sarah Jane (Levis) Turner. After graduating from school in Massachusetts, he graduated from Stark Tech. College in North Canton, Ohio. James served in the United States Navy. He married Glenda L. Schroll Price on November 6, 1976 in Minerva, OH. James had been employed at Ripon College before moving to Florida. He retired from Wal-Mart in Dunnellon, Florida in 1996, and moved to Omro. In September of 2002, he retired from maintenance at Evergreen Retirement Community in Oshkosh, WI.
James is survived by his wife, Glenda of Omro, WI; 5 sons, Timothy A. (Lori) Turner of Steubenville, OH, Kenneth (Benna) Turner of Oklahoma City, OK, Kevin (Cindy) Turner of Cleveland, OH, Jeffery Turner of Weirton, WV, and Chris Price of Fairwater, WI; and 3 daughters, Cindy (Norman) Berndt of Fairwater, and Cheryl and Candy Price of Omro. He is further survived by 2 brothers, George Turner of Norton, MA, and Richard Turner of Ripon, WI; 1 sister, Barbara Grahn of Ripon; 6 grandsons, James, Eric, and Christopher Turner of Steubenville, OH, Nathaniel, Robert and Zachary Berndt of Fairwater; 2 granddaughters, Angela and Krystal Berndt of Fairwater; and his co-workers and wonderful friends, the men in blue at Evergreen Retirement Community. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, James R. Turner, Jr. and Charles L. Price; and 1 granddaughter, Charlynn Rose Price.
Funeral service for James R. Turner will be Thursday, January 2, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Butzin-Marchant Funeral Home, Ripon with the Rev. J. Douglas Hanback officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Oak Mound Cemetery, Town of Alto, Fond du Lac County, WI. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Hospice of Berlin, WI in his name.
